Biography / Johan & Johanna
Soulmates in photography.
Johan Warden was born 1970. Johanna Werning was born 1974.
At twelve Johan got his first camera and started shooting landscapes around Gotland where he grew up. At the same time in a suburb of Stockholm Johanna found a huge bundle of thrown away fashion magazines and a whole new world opened up for her.
Johan and Johanna met in Stockholm in 1998 whilst working together, at the time Johanna was a stylist and had just come back from N.Y. where she styled commercials. Johan had just started a career as a fashion and commercial photographer.
After having worked as a freelance photographer for several years Johan joined Skarp Agent in 2003. At that time Johan was totally into shooting houses, he can still burst into tears at a sight of a house, and he believes that houses often have more soul than people. Johan have worked for clients like SMHI, Flygbussarna, Rädda barnen, Bon etc.
Johanna worked as a stylist where she styled commercials for Nike, Festis, Diesel, H&M etc. As a stylist Johanna has always been intrigued by images and communication through images. She started shooting her self whilst studying art and after that she went to photography school.
After having worked together for several years, in all imaginable ways, Johan and Johanna finally started shooting together. The collaboration came naturally since they have been assisting each other continually over the years.
Johannas esthetics, vision, ability to through details set the tone for the final image, her passion for photography, and her high ambitions combined with Johans long photographic experience , his devotion for analog-photography and his extremely good ability for lighting, finding the right environment and to visualize the mood. Here their different strenghts merge through the strive
towards their common goal with photography.
As a team they shoot landscapes , houses, people, environments.
